“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.  Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”
Return to Life,  Joseph Pilates 1945

Tina Hicks - PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher

Tina’s path to Pilates started with the onset of a bulging disc in her neck in 1998. Attempting to avoid surgery, she started taking a group Pilates mat class at a local gym in 1999. Rather than relying on raw strength and endurance, Pilates emphasizes quality of form over number of repetitions. The result is tone, alignment, balance, and symmetry throughout the body. In short order, the pain relievers and bulging disc were a thing of the past. Tina went on to become a Pilates trainer as a result of her personal experience.

Pilates adds strength and balance to all of Tina’s activities whether riding 100 miles on a bike, 100 miles on a horse, a 100 hours of gardening, throwing her dog Nikki’s ball 100 times or simply carrying groceries in from the car...a hundred times, of course!

Tina has been a Pilates instructor for 10 years and has owned her own studio, Core Reaction Pilates, since 2009. In her continuing effort to seek out education opportunities, Tina has trained with first generation Pilates Master Ron Fletcher, certified Rolfer Marty Morales, participated in an extensive cadaver dissection course, completed a Primary Certification in TAGTeach, and completed Balanced Body University's "Passing the Torch" mentorship program with Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle in 2011 at the Pilates Center of Austin.

Tina is so pleased to be joining forces with peers Jenny Vick and Sybil Shearburn to open the Pilates Center of Huntsville.

Sybil Shearburn - PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher

Sybil began her Pilates practice in 1996 after reading an article about Pilates and very quickly realized the powerful and transformative effects this method of exercise had on her body. After 4 years of practicing Pilates, she completed a year long teacher training program with Randi Whitman in Chicago and taught Pilates at Randi's studio, Frog Temple, for 2 years. In 2004, Sybil opened Body Language, Inc. in Huntsville, AL to share her knowledge and passion of the Pilates method as well as its incredible benefits concerning the back, knees, hips, neck etc., issues so prevalent in our society today.

Sybil’s continued interest in learning more about the method led her to Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle, who she connected with immediately after attending her workshop at a Pilates Method Alliance conference in 2004. Since then she has continued to mentor with Wendy and in 2010 was part of the first group of students in Wendy's “Passing the Torch” mentorship program hosted by Balanced Body University. In Sybil’s words, “the experience was transformative on so many levels, as a teacher, student and individual. Wendy’s vision approaches the method from an inquiry into our relationship with gravity, ourselves and each other. One of the most revolutionary notions for me was how not to grip and over control my movements, which allowed for a more fluid flow of my movements with less effort.”

Sybil is proud to be recognized as a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher. After 10 years of owning and running her own successful business, she is now very excited to be joining forces with longtime friends and colleagues Tina Hicks and Jenny Vick to pool together their resources, talents, treasures, and knowledge to create Huntsville's premier Pilates center.

Jenny Vick - PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher

Jenny has been a teacher of the Pilates Method since 2001 and is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Teacher and member.

She is a committed coach to her clients and their goals. She believes whole-heartedly that efficient movement and breath sculpts a beautiful body, fully capable of performing daily tasks as well as extra curricular activities throughout life. She encourages her clients to use their studio practice in daily activities and tailors their sessions to support that awareness. She believes Pilates is a valuable tool supporting every athlete's favorite sport and every individual's day-to-day functioning.

Jenny is an eager student and believes continuing education yields sophistication and depth to understanding human movement. She is proud to have completed Balanced Body University’s “Passing the Torch” mentorship program with Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle in 2011 at the Pilates Center of Austin.

After co-owning and operating Madison Pilates Studio, Jenny is excited to join her colleagues, Tina Hicks and Sybil Shearburn to bring to the Southeast...Huntsville’s most playful Pilates studio. Outside the studio, Jenny enjoys mountain biking, hiking, camping, concerts, traveling or broadening her horizons by taking a dance or boxing class. She does NOT enjoy doing laundry.
